It's fair to say that everyone that is reading has felt emotions. We have all felt happy or sad at times, but why? I think that it starts when we are very young. Many babies have a favorite food or something that makes them happy. Our parents give us something, and we either accept it with a smile or throw a tantrum. If we receive many things that are yellow as a child we might grow up to like yellow things, but if we are scolded anytime we take something red we might learn to hate things that are red. According to an article by Marcia Stanton, your childhood can affect you in the future.
Pain is probably the easiest emotion to explain. When something happens to your nerve cells on your skin for example (like a burn) it can kill these cells, causing a sharp pain throughout the area because the cells are dying, but some emotions like happiness and sadness are harder to explain. I think that we learn to feel emotions from certain things that we do form our childhood, but how we actually "feel" these emotions is unknown. There are many theories that involve the brain, but we can't know for sure at this point in time.
The question I want to ask you readers is what do you think about emotion? Are they just things that cant be explained, or is it something that can be explained once we have technological advances. Feel free to comment on anything else you agree or disagree with.
